High Beemers,
I hope you had a great summer riding season. Our weather has been really good (other than the Davis Fire, which impacted a number of us) and there was no significant wildfire smoke in our local area. The weather is forecasted to remain pretty good for the next few weeks; after that it should start to get cooler so think about digging out your heated or other cold weather riding gear to make sure it is working correctly.
Club Rides & Events
During Q3 of 2024 we held all of our scheduled monthly rides and events, including the breakfast rides on Mondays, preplanned rides on Saturdays, improvised rides on Sundays and the annual fall BBQ, which was held on a private beach on Lake Tahoe. Ride and event reports for all are on the website in the "Forums" section. Many thanks to Jim and Cindy Edwards for hosting the fall BBQ which was flawless, with perfect weather at an unforgettable location (but featured questionable volleyball scoring by Jim McMichael and Kurtis Thrasher). Thanks also to everybody who brought side dishes and desserts and helped set up beforehand and clean up afterward.
During Q4 of 2024 we plan to hold all of our scheduled monthly rides, which will include a Monday breakfast ride each month but preplanned and improvised rides during October only. Please refer to the "Event Calendar" on the website for these events.
2024 Ride Contest - Quo Vadis?
Believe it or not the annual ride contest is still open for registration. If you are interested, please enter by going to the "Events Calendar" on the website, click on the February 22, 2024 event titled "Quo Vadis?" and follow the prompts. Contact Jim Edwards directly if you have any questions about the contest.

Member Photos
Of our 100 regular members, 69 of us have posted a decent identifying photograph on the website. 29 of us have not uploaded a photo and 2 have a photo but of their bike. Can you 31 please upload a decent photo to the website? And for all regular members, it would be great if you could also upload a photo of your associate so at events like the BBQ or annual dinner people will know who they are. Instructions on how to do this are under the "How To Tips" tab of the website.
Other
As our weather cools down, please remember to check your tire pressure regularly. A 10 degree drop in air temperature can lower tire pressure by 2 PSI, which if your tires are properly inflated is manageable; if your tires are underinflated it could be a real problem. Low temperatures can also cause your bike's battery capacity to decrease, so using a trickle charger is really helpful.
Many of you have now downloaded the club's mobile app. Please let Tracey McCormick or me know your thoughts about it.
Ride safely and we'll see you at a future club ride or event!
