President's Message - Q2 2025

Tracey McCormick | Published on 3/31/2025

High Beemers,

I hopethat you and your families are happy and healthy and off to a good start in 2025. We seem to have had a relatively mild winter, with some quite cold and windy weather, periodically interrupted up by beautiful 60 to 70 degree days which are perfect for riding at lower elevations. If you are just breaking out your bike from winter storage, make sure you inspect it and properly inflate the tires before venturing out on your initial ride of the season.

Club Rides & Events

During Q1of 202we held all of our scheduled monthly rides and events, including the New Year's Day brunch and ride at Mimi's; the Annual Dinner at the Tamarack Casino; the Monday breakfast rides; and the Wednesday lunch rides. We had record attendance at the Annual Dinner, which included the raffles and election results. Please mark your calendars for next year's event, which is currently planned for Wednesday, January 14, 2026. In addition to the scheduled rides and events, we also held a bowling night at the GSR (thank you Kurtis Thrasher); and we organized an accident scene management class. Reports for all are on the website in the "Forums" section.

During Qof 2025 we plan to hold our Monday breakfast rides; our Wednesday lunch rides; our Saturday preplanned rides; and our Sunday improvised rides, all weather permittingIn addition to the scheduled rides and events, there will be both a special ride to Hawthorne celebrating Armed Forces Day and a Tech Day at Rick Barba's home garage. All of these rides and events are on the website in the "Event Calendar" section.

2024 Ride Contest - "On and On and On"

Jim Edwards has rolled out the 202ride contest, which he has named "On and On and On." Ask Jim directly if the name was inspired by the ABBA song or the one by Stephen Bishop. The format is basically the same as last year’s. There are 2locations to potentially visit at varying distances from Reno, and each location is worth one point regardless of distance. You do not need to make it to all 2locations to achieve the maximum number of tickets in the drawing. The entry fee is $20 so please enter the contest by going to the “Event Calendar” on the website, click on the April 1, 202 5event titled On and On and On and follow the prompts. Contact Jim directly if you have any questions about the contest.

Out of our 100 regular members, only 14 remain gray silhouettes; if you are one of them, please log in to the website and upload a headshot photo so we know who you are. Instructions on how to do that are on the website under the FAQ tab.
