High Beemers,
What a difference a few months makes! At the beginning of Q1 we had just had a white Christmas and we were actually experiencing winter. Fast forward to today and we had one of the mildest winters ever and set numerous high temperature records. It seems like summer started a few weeks ago. This has obviously led to a lot more riding by a lot of our members than is typically the case this time of year.
During the first quarter we had a lot of Club activity. We held our Monday breakfast rides and Wednesday lunch rides during each month with really good attendance at most of them. We also held our annual New Year's Day brunch at Mimi's Cafe; our annual Dinner at the Tamarack Casino banquet room; and our 2nd annual bowling tournament at the GSR bowling center. Ride and event reports are on the website on the Forums page.
During the second quarter we will have our monthly Monday breakfast and Wednesday lunch rides, which are year around, and we'll start up this season's Saturday preplanned and Sunday improvised rides. We will also have our 2nd annual Tech and Maintenance Day on April 25 at Rick Barba's garage. During June the BMW MOA National Rally will be held in Vermont and the BMW RA National Rally will be held in Wisconsin. Ride and event coordination is on the website on the Forums page and on the Event Calendar
2026 Ride Contest - Ride and Seek
This year Ken Johnson has taken over managing the annual ride contest, and he has named it "Ride and Seek" (in addition to another less family oriented name). The format is similar to last year's contest, with 20 locations in Nevada, California and Utah (barely). As of today we already have 28 Club members registered as participating, which is tied with the most ever and certainly the highest ever this early in the year. That means the payout pot should be really big at next year's annual dinner! For those of you who have not yet registered, please go to the website on the home page, click on the first item under "Upcoming Events" and follow the prompts. If you have any questions please reach out to Ken Johnson.
Membership
As of today we have 115 regular members and 33 associate members for a total of 148. New members joining during the first quarter were:

In case you have been under a rock for the past few months, Sierra BMW sold its BMW motorcycle business to EuroCycle during February The old Sierra location is still there and renamed Sierra Motorcycle Supply and they are focusing on the Beta brand as well as their bicycle business. You can still order BMW parts, apparel and accessories from them and they should continue honoring your High Beemers discount. The new BMW motorcycle sales and service operations are now located at EuroCycle on Gentry. Both Sean and Vince from Sierra's service operation have moved to EuroCycle.
Finally, on Club Rides we will be instituting more discipline in the ride structure and the ride leader will be keeping the official group to appropriate speed limits and keeping the group together. Riders who want a more spirited experience will depart the starting (or break) locations first and wait for the official group at the next scheduled stop.
I will see you on one or more of our Club rides and events this quarter
