President's Message - Q3 2026

Larry Reinhold

High Beemers,

The riding season is in full swing. I just returned from a 2,200 mile trip through California, Oregon and Washington where the roads were great and the weather was partially great. Several members have been to rallies around the country and trips to Alaska and many other interesting places. Bikes are everywhere!

Club Rides & Events

During Q2 of 2026 we held all of our scheduled monthly rides, including Monday breakfast rides; Wednesday lunch rides; Saturday preplanned rides and Sunday improvised rides. We had our largest ever Iron Door dinner two weeks ago, with 42 of us trekking to Graeagle for the big event. And we had our 2nd annual Tech and Maintenance Day event at Rick & Barbara Barba's home during the quarter. Reports for all of the rides and events are in the "Forums" section of the website. During Q3 we plan on holding all of our planned rides, as well as the fall BBQ on September 26 at Jim & Cindy Edwards' place in Elk Point on Lake Tahoe. We have limited space for this event so please be on the lookout for notice in late August when it is open for registration.

2026 Ride Contest - Ride and Seek

We have record participation in this year's contest, with 29 of us signed up. There are 20 locations in Nevada, California and Utah to potentially visit. The entry fee is only $20 and there is still time to enter the contest; if you are interested please go to the website and click on the top item under Upcoming Events and follow the prompts to register. If you have any questions please reach out to Ken Johnson.

Membership

As of today we have 111 regular members and 34 associate members for a total of 145. New members joining during the quarter were:

Primary Member Associate Member Residence Primary Bike
Larry Avansino n/a Reno BMW K1600 GTL
Martin Hodge n/a Reno Triumph Tiger
Sha'ron Oren n/a Reno BMW R1250 GSA
Andre Simmons n/a Spanish Springs BMW R1200 GS

Please join me in welcoming these new members to the club.

Other

As I mentioned last quarter, we have instituted more discipline to the group ride structure with the ride leader keeping the official group to appropriate speed limits and others wanting to ride at a more spirited pace departing earlier. So far this seems to be popular with members so it will be continued. Finally, you have probably seen many of us sporting our new High Beemers name badges at events. If you haven't ordered yours yet, please do so on the website.

I look forward to riding with you in the coming months.

Larry Reinhold
President, High Beemers
